学修目標(到達目標) By the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge and proficiency that will allow them to learn the language independently as health professionals and greater competence to understand people from different cultural backgrounds.

Students will be able to understand spoken English, read a variety of texts, write effectively and academically, and communicate with confidence in simple English.
授業概要(教育目的・準備学修・事後学修・履修要件等) This course further develops students’ integrated language skills and other academic skills for future career in their professional field.
The course is designed to deepen students’ insight into cultures of other countries.

In principle, students are required to spend 3 hours on preparing/reviewing each class and working on assignments. Students with lower proficiency are advised to focus more on reviewing each class.
授業内容 In learning a foreign language, quality inputs matter most. This course is designed to allow students to have quality inputs through a variety of materials.
Each class consists of independent (and group) tasks, lectures, and assignments.
Vocabulary tests are intended to prepare students for the medical English course in the third year and future professional life.

授業形式・授業形態 授業内では基本的に英語（必要に応じて日本語）を用いる。ポイントを中心に解説するほか、毎回の授業の中で基礎的な事項を確認する。個人・グループで課題に取り組む時間を設ける。提出物等については指示に従うこと。クラス内の小テストについても範囲や様態を随時指定する。オンライン受講で小テストを受けられない場合は最終試験に合わせて追試験を受けること。WebClass等で配布資料や動画のURL等を参照できるようにする予定。
成績評価方法（成績評価基準を含む） 小テスト含む平常点（30%）および定期試験の成績（70%）から総合的に評価する。①全回出席を前提とする。出席は加点の対象とせず、正当な理由（忌引き、病欠、交通機関の遅延など）がない場合の欠席・遅刻・早退は減点の対象とする。かつ、正当な理由のない欠席が授業回数の三分の一を超える場合は、期末試験の受験資格を与えず、単位の認定もしない。 ②期末試験の得点率が60%を下回った場合は、出席率に関わらず、単位を認定しない。
テキスト（教科書等） プリント教材を配布するため「テキスト」新規購入はなし。
医学用語のテストについては、Health Care Today (朝日出版社 ISBN 978-4-255-15351-3) をひきつづき用いる。
